Build your child’s fine motor skills while getting into the holiday spirit.
In this video, I will show you three different ornaments you can make using pipe cleaners and pony beads. Depending on your child’s abilities, one may be easier than another. If your child succeeds with the easiest one (Candy Cane) and is feeling motivated, try the next one (Circle ornament) prior to trying the slightly more complicated Christmas Tree that requires more than one pipe cleaner and a bit of counting! I recommend putting the beads in a few deep bowls or tupperware containers so they are less likely to spill all over the table. Presorting was easier for us so we didn’t have to spend as much time hunting down the right color bead and spend more time focusing on making the ornament!
You will need:
Holiday colored pipe cleaners (I like to get the sparkly ones!) and some holiday colored pony beads. Easy, right?
Grab a pair of scissors for cutting smaller pieces to form the hanger for the ornaments and tree trunk of the christmas tree.
Not celebrating Christmas? No Problem!
If you don’t celebrate Christmas, you can adapt the colors and shapes to match the holiday you do celebrate such as using blue and white beads and pipe cleaners to form a Dreidel shape for Hanukkah.
